Almost 200 kg of heroin were discovered during a joint customs and police operation at Bulgaria`s Port of Burgas, the Interior Ministry announced Monday. The heroin was distributed in packages of 500 grams which were hidden in secret compartments in the trailers of three trucks that were inspected at the port`s ferry terminal.

The three trucks have license plates of Bulgaria`s capital Sofia but came to the Port of Burgas through the ferry line connecting Burgas with Georgia`s Black Sea Port of Poti.

The drugs were detained in an international operation led by the Regional Center for Combating Trans-border Crime of the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative (SECI) located in Romania`s capital Bucharest. The case is still under investigation.
